I very much feed my dogs the same way I feed myself and my family. Probably the same way you feed you and yours. I would suggest relatively few people have the time to plan too far ahead in that regard. For most of us I imagine it’s more a matter of opening the freezer or cupboard and seeing what leaps out at you!

On this occasion it was the salmon that leapt out at me from the freezer. That reminded me I’d frozen some smoked mackerel fillets the week before so I dug those out and then this recipe just went from there. It became my homemade fish based dog food recipe you can see above.

That’s the way I tend to cook for my dogs. The organic, natural way they were fed for thousands of years before the advent of commercial dog food in the late 1800s.
