There’s never been a better time to be a dog!!
Bake & Treat dog treat baking mixes – the future of dog treats
Somerset start-up The Dog Chef has launched a range of Bake & Treat dog treat baking mixes. Dog nutritionist-approved and 100% natural, they allow pet parents to take complete control over how they reward their dog by baking their own homemade dog treats.
“My dog treat baking mixes contain all the necessary dry ingredients,” says founder, Ann-marie Morgan. “Overseen by my resident dog nutritionist, every ingredient is both dog-safe and fit for human consumption. That means the treats can be enjoyed by the whole family. And because they don’t contain additives or preservatives, they’re actually healthier than most treats made for humans!”
Functional dog treats
The initial range of Bake & Treat dog treat mixes comprises two functional training treats and two ‘comfort’ treats. Anytime treats ideal for when pet parents want to reward their best friend with a little something special.
“Apart from being exceptionally healthy, one of the biggest differences between Bake & Treat dog treats and commercial dog treats is that pet parents know exactly what ingredients are in them,” continues Ann-marie. “They know they’re 100% safe. Not made with additives and preservatives in a huge factory in another part of the world where manufacturing is less strictly controlled!
Baking & treating improves dogs’ lives
“But there’s more to it than that. There’s something a dog doesn’t get by simply opening a pack of ready-made dog treats. It’s the excitement, the sheer pleasure when he or she knows that something special is happening. Something special than involves them.
“When pet parents bake their own dog treats, the dog gets to enjoy the whole process. The opening of the packet, the sounds of mixing, the rattling of baking trays and the aroma of treats baking in the oven. And all that before the final mouth-watering tasting.
“In pet husbandry it’s a concept known as environmental enrichment. It’s a way of improving the life of a dog by making its life more interesting and exciting. And as anyone who has studied the subject will tell you, environmental enrichment doesn’t come in a packet. It comes from doing things with your dog.”
Dog treats so healthy, you can eat them too
The company also plans to launch a monthly box scheme so that pet parents never run out of natural and healthy dog treats for their best friend.
“And one more thing,” says Ann-marie. “Because all my dog treat baking mixes are simple to make and contain a limited number of human grade ingredients, they’re an ideal way to introduce young children to baking. The ingredients are safe for them to eat and so are the finished treats. And they learn how to look after their dog at the same time. It’s definitely a win-win situation!”
