The Father of All Herbs

I’m known to be a huge fan of herbs where my dogs are concerned.

Including the herbs used in my Dog Chef Daily and my Dog Chef Senior, I regularly give my guys in the region of 70 different herbs and spices.

Chief amongst these is Alfalfa, traditionally known as The Father of All Herbs!

Dog Chef Daily

Known as the father of all herbs, Alfalfa is a member of the pea family. Its medicinal use dates back more than 2,000 years, particularly in the Middle East.

Okay, less is known about Alfalfa for dogs perhaps. But it’s been established that man and dog have shared the same food and resources since the beginning of their time together. That’s somewhere in the region of 12,000 to 15,000 years by the way. So it stands to reason that Alfalfa for dogs has to have been a constant for much if not all of that time.

I like it for many reasons. It’s a really good source of vitamins for starters. Particularly vitamin A, B1, B12, C, D, E, K and B9. And it’s a good source of calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and zinc, as well as being rich in chlorophyll and beta-carotene

All of which adds up to Alfalfa possessing anti-inflammatory properties which can be of benefit to any dog suffering from arthritis. It’s also useful in treating kidney and bladder infections as well as being able to help reduce the risk of cancer.

It’s for all those reasons and more that Alfalfa is included in Dog Chef Daily, my plant-based daily superfood supplement for dogs.

If you make homemade food for your dog, you'll need to supplement to make that food complete. My natural supplements are made in-house with canine nutritionist approved 100% natural ingredients with no additives or preservatives of any kind.
