Recipe notes
Don’t obsess if you don’t have all the ingredients for this recipe. You could swap out the cucumber for courgette or the carrots for parsnips.
And if you want to make it look more like a traditional salad, add in a little chopped lettuce if you like.
Remember it’s the taste your best friend will value most, not the look or accuracy of its cucumber salad for dogs!
The Dog Chef Guide to Homemade Dog Food
Looking to supercharge your dog's diet with fresh food?
Our Canine Nutritionist says…
The food you feed your dog does not need to look the way most people think dog food should look today.
Remember, your dog’s ancestors were roaming this planet long before we were around. Food for them was anything that provided nutrients. That included a variety of plant material — out of choice when self-medicating, out of necessity when meat was scarce as wolves still do to this day, or when consuming the stomach contents of its herbivorous prey.
It may not have looked quite as mouth-watering as this, but it was plant material just the same!
