Training treats for pups

Training treats for puppies are extra special treats designed to reward your new pup for good behaviour. They’re known as ‘high-reward’ treats. Extra special treats with enhanced flavour and stronger than usual smell designed to motivate your new puppy and to keep his or her attention focused purely on you.

Traditionally, training treats, especially training treats for puppies, are small, strongly scented and flavoured treats. They’re easy to chew and digest so as not to distract your puppy too much from the task in hand. You want your pup ready and willing to focus on the next command or task and not distracted by chewing endlessly on the same stubbornly hard and difficult to swallow treat.

What’s in a puppy training treat

Having established that you want your pup’s training treats to be irresistably tempting and easy to digest, the question becomes, what do you put in them?

The answer is in the term ‘high-reward’. High reward means something extra special. Something really worth working for. Really worth focusing for. And for a young pup, that’s likely to be something strong and smelly like liver, fish or beef.

That said, those particular canine delicacies, by their very nature, are not particularly convenient to carry around with you. Sticking your hand into a treat pouch full of chopped up liver is more than a little disconcerting at the best of times. Trust me, during an early morning training session on a cold winter’s morning the experience is positively offputting to say the least!

No, your puppy’s training treats need to be high-reward for your pup, but low-stress for you. That’s where my Puppy Training Treats come in. They have all the qualities of the ideal puppy training treat, but in an easy to handle and convenient form.

Puppy training treat mixes

My training treat mixes for pups contain all the dry ingredients you need to make training treats for your pup. I’ve done much of the hard work for you, even down to drying grass-fed British beef liver and reducing it down to a powdered form in my own kitchens.

I combine these high-powered protein sources with other healthy and natural ingredients, every one of which has been approved by my resident canine nutritionist.

Like so many, I’m sure you’ll find that rewarding your pup with training treats you’ve baked yourself, a reward in itself. And if you do, do please let me know. I’d love to hear how you get on!
