A Dog’s Best Treat

by | Dog Treats | 0 comments

So what are the best treats for dogs?

Ask any dog about the best treats for dogs and they’ll tell you they’re the ones they’re eating at the time. Dogs are like that. So practical. That’s one of the many reasons we human beings love and admire them so much!

From the point of view of those of us at The Dog Chef, the best treats are the treats that are the healthiest and most natural. They would have to be made from 100% natural ingredients, for example. Not necessarily things a dog would choose to eat in the wild, but things a dog could eat if it so chose.

Dogs are omnivores

Traditionally we think of dogs as meat eaters. Carnivores. But that is far from the whole story.

Dogs are omnivores. Like human beings, they have digestive systems designed to benefit from both animal and plant-based ingredients. In particularly agrarian parts of the world, plants have traditionally made up a large part of the diet of man’s best friend.

So it’s no surprise that plants and plant matter play a large part in many of the best treats for dogs.

Another key element of good dog treats is that they should contain no synthetic ingredients. No chemicals and no fillers. No preservatives, colourants or synthetic vitamins and minerals. Why would they when Mother Nature has provided us with such a magnificent array of natural ingredients to use?

Dog treats should be healthy

And they should of course be healthy. By definition, a treat is a reward. Something that gives the receiver of the treat, pleasure. It’s hardly rewarding your best friend if the treats you provide were made in a factory, in a country thousands of miles away, with questionable ingredients half of which you can’t pronounce the names of.

My dog treat mixes have been approved by my resident dog nutritionist. Every ingredient is both dog-safe and fit for human consumption. That means you and your children can eat and enjoy your dog’s treats as well. In point of fact, we know many dog parents who are actually reluctant to share their dog’s treats with their dog!

Homemade dog treat mixes

The treats made with my homemade dog treat baking mixes are not only healthier than the vast majority of dog treats. They’re also healthier than the vast majority of human treats as well. They’re made with natural herbs and spices known to be beneficial to us all. Mint and parsley, gotu kola and spirulina to name but a few.

So if you’re looking for the best treats for dogs, look no further. Do please give my dog treat baking mixes a try. And do please let me know what you think in the box below.

Oh, and even if you do find them moreishly tasty, do please remember to share them with your dog. I know they taste great, but they are designed to be dog treats you know!
