Product information
This 100% natural dog treat baking mix makes perfect, high-reward liver cake training treats for your dog. These strongly-flavoured liver dog training treats are the ideal treat for puppy training. Their strong liver flavour will make your pup keep coming back for more!
Liver
Liver is one of the most densely-packed, nutrient-rich food sources known to man. It’s one of nature’s best sources of vitamin A, as well as being a good source of the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA. Rich in all the B vitamins, it also provides a healthy helping of copper, iron, phosphorus, potassium and zinc.
My liver is directly supplied to me by a local farmer who raises and grazes his grass-fed animals in the fields around The Dog Chef HQ in rural Somerset.
In total, from field to slaughter and back to me, the animals who supply my liver travel no more than about 12 miles! My team then hand-process, dehydrate and grind this top-quality liver into liver powder in my own kitchens. Equivalent to 110g (nearly 4oz) of liver in every mix!
Coconut flour
Coconut flour is a soft, aromatic flour made from dried coconut meat. Unlike whole wheat flours, coconut flour is 100% gluten free. It’s also high in protein and healthy fats making it beneficial for your dog’s heart.
Tapioca flour
Extracted from the roots of the cassava plant, gluten-free tapioca flour is an excellent substitute for more traditional, more highly processed flours.
Eggs
Eggs are highly nutritious and an excellent source of easily digestible protein. Rich in vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and amino acids, they provide energy, build muscle, strengthen teeth and bones and aid with joint and tissue repair.
Olive oil
Olive oil provides energy, protects the immune system and helps fight cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It also helps promote healthy skin and coat. Olive oil is especially beneficial for senior dogs. It helps protect against cognitive degeneration and is highly beneficial in protecting joints against arthritis.
About this mix
This healthy and natural mix for homemade liver cake dog treats is made from 100% natural ingredients. The mix requires the addition of just 1 tablespoon of olive oil, an egg and a little water to make approximately 280 dog training treats as shown in the photo above.
Made only with human-grade, dog-safe ingredients, these homemade liver dog training treats contain no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives. They contain no added sugar or salt, just 100% natural goodness for your best friend.
And remember, all my dog treats are both dog-safe and safe for human consumption. Okay, liver is not to everyone’s taste, and these do have a particularly strong liver smell and taste. I can say this with some conviction because, as always, my dog nutritionist, who approved this recipe, tried the finished treats.
If you’re brave enough, do try them yourself and let me know how you like them by submitting a review below. And if you really, really like them, why not join my monthly box scheme. That way you can treat yourself and your dog all the more often!
One final thing. As tasty as your dog may find these homemade training treats, treats should make up no more than around 10% of your dog’s daily calorie intake. Please make allowance for this and reduce the size of your dog’s meals in order to minimise the risk of unhealthy weight gain.

Finally got round to making the liver cake training treats I purchased some time ago. Don’t know why it took me so long as they were a cinch to make. I loved the clever way the mix was so easy to take out of the tin, being on grease-proof paper you just lifted it out and divided up.
Off on our first walk with liver treats and the dogs appear very distracted by a certain aroma! In their curiosity they investigated my coat pocket straightaway. During the walk they were checking in at more frequent intervals for one of these tasty treats.
I purchased the liver cake mix as it is both grain and gluten free which suits our dog’s health issues. Top marks for it Ann-Marie.
Thank you.

Bought the fish and the liver treats. The liver cake was a cinch to make having made my own before with the mess and smell of it cooking. This powder beats it any day!! My dogs love it too which makes me happy. The fish biscuits were also good but I feel too crumbly for training treats in my pocket. Great though for at home treats. Will definitely buy again. Thanks Dog Chef!

My dogs loved these treats and so did my puppy school pups. Only a few recognisable ingredients, no yucky liquidising liver, no unpleasant smell while cooking and super easy to make. It makes excellent training treats!
